• Correct width, not a longer size — sizing up to get room leaves the foot sliding, which causes friction

Fitting Both Feet, Every Time

1. We measure length, width, and arch length on both feet — one is almost always bigger, and we fit the bigger one
2. You step on the Harris mat, which shows where your weight actually lands and where the pressure points are
3. We watch you walk
4. We check the fit with your hands and eyes as well as your feet — where the seams sit, where the toe box ends, whether anything presses
5. You walk in the shoe before you buy

Come later in the day

Feet swell as the day goes on, and more in this heat. A shoe fitted at 10 a.m. can be tight by evening. If your feet swell, come in the afternoon and we'll fit you where you actually live.

Bring your current shoes and your socks

The wear pattern tells us a lot before you take them off. And bring the socks you actually wear — thick diabetic socks change the fit more than people expect.

Talk to Your Doctor Too

We're shoe fitters, not medical providers. We can tell you a great deal about fit, width, materials, and pressure. We can't examine your feet or advise on your care.

If you have diabetes, your doctor or podiatrist should be checking your feet regularly, and anything you notice — a sore, a blister, a change in color or sensation — is a call to them, not to us. Come see us for the shoes.

FAQ

Do you carry wide and extra wide?

Yes. Wide and 2E in most brands, 4E in select styles, up to triple wide in SAS, and up to 6E in Mt. Emey.

What if you don't have my size or width in stock?

We can usually special order it. Call 504-910-2900 with the style, size, and width, or come in and we'll sort it at the counter.

Can I put my own insoles in?

Often yes. Bring them with you and we'll fit the shoe around them. Many of the brands above have removable insoles and enough depth to take a custom orthotic.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk into any of our four stores. The fitting and the foot impression are free whether or not you buy.
