Expert Fit in New Orleans & Metairie
Most people only consider the length of their feet when shopping for shoes. The reality is that there's so much more to getting a great fit. Our staff is highly knowledgeable and expertly trained, using our five-step method for measuring your feet and finding the perfect fit.

Five Steps to Your Perfect Fit
Walk in. No appointment, no charge, no obligation to buy. Most people have never had their feet properly measured. It takes a few minutes and it changes which shoes we hand you.
The Five Steps
-
Measure the length of both feet
We carefully measure the length of both feet from heel to toe using a Brannock device — and we measure your arch length too, which is where your foot actually bends. One foot is almost always bigger than the other. We fit the bigger one.
-
Measure the width of both feet
Using the Brannock device, we measure the width of each foot at its widest point. If you've been sizing up to get room, this is usually where we find out why.
-
Complimentary foot impression
Using the Harris Mat pad, we check the height of your arches, the pressure points on your heel and metatarsal bones, and your foot alignment to get a better understanding of your needs. It also shows us whether you pronate — and how much — and whether we need to include orthotics in the fitting.
-
Check the fit
We evaluate your foot impression, watch you walk a few steps, and select which shoes are going to work best for your specific needs and day-to-day life. Whether it's for work, a special occasion, or exercise, our expertly trained staff will guide you in the right direction — and tell you why each pair.
-
Walk in them and decide
You walk in every pair before you buy. We go over which ones fit best and gave you the most support, and why. No pressure to buy anything. Your feet are the foundation of your body, and our goal is to help you "Look Better and Feel Better."
Why Length Alone Isn't Enough
Arch length
Not the same as foot length. Two people can wear the same size and need different shoes, because the shoe has to flex where the foot flexes. If it bends in the wrong spot, you feel it — usually in the arch or the ball of the foot.
Width
Feet swell over a day, and they swell more in this heat. A shoe that fits at 10am should still fit at 6pm. We stock real widths — wide and 2E in most brands, 4E in select styles.
How you load the foot
The imprint shows where your weight actually lands. High arch, flat, collapsing under load, more pressure on one side. The picture is right there in the ink.

If You Need More Than the Shoe Gives
Sometimes the right shoe isn't enough on its own. If the impression shows your arch needs more support than a stock insole provides, we'll talk about custom fitted arch supports. We'll also tell you when you don't need them.
FAQ
Does it cost anything?
No. The fitting and the foot impression are free, whether or not you buy shoes.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk into any of our four stores.
How long does it take?
A few minutes for the measuring and the impression. Longer if you want to try things on, which you should.
Should I bring my old shoes?
Yes. The wear pattern on a pair you've been living in tells us a lot.
Is this a medical diagnosis?
No. We're shoe fitters, not doctors. We can tell you a great deal about how your foot works and what it needs from a shoe. If something looks like it needs a doctor, we'll say so.
