      The thing every parent gets wrong

      Don't Buy a Size to Grow Into

      A shoe that's too long doesn't save money. Kids trip in it, their foot slides forward, and it wears out in the wrong places. Buy the size they are today. A thumb's width past the longest toe is all the growing room they need.

      Hoka

      The Clifton 10 in little kids and big kids. Thick foam and a rocker sole, for kids who don't sit still.

      The Cloud Play, Cloud Sky and Cloudswift, in little kids through big kids. Several come in all black for school.

      Kids' Sizes

      Stage Sizes Roughly Ages
      Little Kids 10½ – 3 4 to 7
      Big Kids 3½ – 7 8 to 12

      Kids' sizes run up to 13½, then start over at 1. Ages are only a guide — measure, don't guess.

      How a Kid's Shoe Should Fit

      • About a thumb's width past the longest toe. No more
      • Their foot shouldn't bulge over the sides of the sole
      • The heel stays down when they walk
      • Measure both feet. One is almost always bigger, so fit the bigger one
      • Watch them walk away from you. If they drag a foot or walk funny, something's off

      Kids' feet can grow a half size every few months, and most kids won't tell you their shoes hurt. If the last pair still looks new, check the fit anyway. Bring them in and we'll measure for free.
