Men's Johnston & Murphy
American dress shoes since 1850. Lace-ups, loafers, knit dress sneakers and a Chelsea boot, in medium and wide, up to size 14.
The thing everybody gets wrong
Wide Feet Can Wear Dress Shoes
A lot of men with wide feet give up on dress shoes and live in sneakers. You don't have to. The Conard, Upton, Amherst and McGuffey all come in wide, so the shoe fits across the ball of your foot instead of squeezing it.
What We Carry
Conard 2.0 and Upton — the plain-toe lace-ups
Clean dress shoes in full-grain leather, black and tan. For the office, a wedding or a funeral. Both come in wide, and the Conard goes to 14.
Amherst 2.0 — the knit dress sneaker
A dress shoe on top, a sneaker underneath. Light knit in gray, navy and taupe, in medium and wide, up to 14.
McGuffey — dress-casual
Oiled tan leather in a plain-toe lace-up and a woven slip-on. Works with khakis and a sport coat.
Loafers and slip-ons
The Harrison venetian loafer and the Monaco in soft sheepskin, plus the Flynch in Italian calfskin.
Kinnon and Hartley — for cooler weather
The Kinnon in oiled suede, and the Hartley Chelsea boot in black Italian calfskin.
How Johnston & Murphy Should Fit
- Stand up when you check the length. About a thumb's width past your longest toe
- If a dress shoe presses across the ball of your foot, try the wide before a bigger size
- Your heel should stay put when you walk
- Full-grain leather softens with wear, so snug is fine but tight isn't
Why We Carry It
Johnston & Murphy has been making men's shoes for more than 170 years, and it still makes a dress shoe you can wear all day. Real widths, clean looks and comfortable soles.
