The Sole Says a Different Number
Every Blundstone has the AU/UK size stamped on the bottom, but you order in US sizes. So a US men's 9 arrives with an 8 on the sole. That's normal, not a mistake.
The number stamped on the sole is the AU/UK size, not the size you ordered.

Kids' styles have a removable insole, so there's a little room to adjust as feet grow.
Getting the Fit Right
- They fit true to size. If you want a roomier fit, go up a half size rather than a full one.
- Slight give in the heel, about a quarter inch in front of your longest toe. That's the fit you're after.
- They stretch across the instep, never in length. If it's short now, it stays short.
- Try them standing, in the socks you'll actually wear with them.
- The Classic series runs wider than the Originals and comes with extra insoles to fine-tune the fit.
- The Dress series runs a little long. Some people go down a half size in those.
For Work
The everyday Chelseas grip well on wet streets, but they aren't certified work soles. If your job requires slip-resistant or safety-toe shoes, ask about Blundstone's steel-toe work boots, or see our slip-resistant work shoes.
Breaking Them In
Blundstones are stiff out of the box and soften considerably over the first couple of weeks. Wear them around the house first. Don't take a brand-new pair to a parade or a festival — that's how people end up blaming the boot.
