How the Fitting Works

1. We measure both feet

   Length, width, and arch length on each foot, on a Brannock device. Arch length is the one most people have never had measured, and it's the one that decides where the support needs to sit.

2. You step on the Harris mat

   The imprint shows the height of your arches, your pressure points at the heel and metatarsals, and your alignment. It also shows whether the arch is collapsing under load. Takes about ten seconds and it's free.

3. We watch you walk

   Whether you pronate, and how much. You can see a lot in a few steps across the floor once you've done it for twenty years.

4. We fit the support to your foot and your shoe

   The support gets fitted to your arch length and trimmed to your shoe. A support that's right for your foot but wrong for the shoe it's going into doesn't work.

5. You walk in it before you buy

   In the actual shoe, in the store. If it doesn't feel right, we adjust it or we try something else.

What We Are and Aren't

We're shoe fitters with decades behind the Brannock device, not doctors. We don't diagnose, and we don't sell a system or a package. You come in, we measure, and if a support helps we fit you one. If your feet need a doctor, we'll say so and send you on.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk into any of our four stores.

Is the fitting free?

Yes. The measuring and the foot impression are free, whether or not you buy anything.

Will they fit in the shoes I already own?

Often, yes. Bring the shoes you want to wear them in — that's the only way to know. Some shoes have removable insoles and plenty of depth; some don't.

How long do they last?

They should last a year or more with standard wear. Bring them in when you're back and we'll look at them.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance.

Should I bring my old shoes?

Yes. The wear pattern tells us a lot before you even take them off.
