Cushion Isn't Support
The Bondi is Hoka's softest shoe, so people assume it's the most supportive. It isn't. Cushion is how soft it feels. Support is what keeps your foot from rolling in. If your arches drop or your ankles roll, you want the Arahi or the Gaviota. We'll watch you walk and tell you which.
Which Hoka Is Yours
Bondi 9 โ the most cushion
The thickest, softest ride Hoka makes. Best for long days on concrete and for feet and knees that take a beating. It's a neutral shoe, so it won't correct a foot that rolls in.
Clifton 11 โ the everyday one
Lighter than the Bondi, with a little less foam. Start here if you walk, run a few miles, or want one shoe for everything. Want lighter still? The Mach 7 and Rincon 4 give you less shoe and more speed.
Arahi 8 and Gaviota 6 โ stability
For feet that roll in. Both keep you lined up without feeling stiff. The Arahi is lighter. The Gaviota has more cushion, so it's the closest thing to a Bondi with stability built in.

How a Hoka Should Fit
- About a thumb's width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe
- Your heel stays put when you walk. No slipping
- No pressure on the sides at the ball of your foot. If you feel it, go to a D, not a bigger size
- It feels tall for the first few steps. That goes away
Fit your larger foot. Most people have one.

The thick midsole and rocker sole roll you through each step, so your heel and the ball of your foot take less pounding. That's why people with plantar fasciitis and sore knees end up in them. The insole comes out if you wear an arch support or orthotic.
