Orleans Shoe Co. β€” Fitted, Not Guessed

Men's Running Shoes in New Orleans & Metairie

Running here is its own problem. Flat ground, brutal humidity, broken sidewalks, and eight months of heat. The shoe your buddy swears by in Denver may not hold up on the levee in July. We measure your feet, take a footprint, and fit you from there.

      Footprint Analysis

We take an imprint of both feet to find your true arch length β€” not just how long your foot is. That's the measurement that tells us where the shoe needs to flex. Most men have never had it done.

What Actually Matters in a Running Shoe

Arch length, not just foot length

Two guys can wear the same size and need different shoes. What matters is where your foot bends. If the shoe flexes in the wrong spot, you feel it β€” usually in the arch or the ball of the foot. The footprint tells us.

      Width, not just length

Feet swell on a run, and they swell more in this heat. A shoe that fits in the store at 10am should still fit at mile six. We measure both feet β€” one is almost always bigger.

      Mileage

Most running shoes are done between 300 and 500 miles, even if the upper looks fine. If your knees or shins started talking recently, check the date on your shoes first.

      Running in New Orleans

Audubon Park, City Park, the levee path, the Lafitte Greenway. Flat, humid, and hard on shoes. Heat and sweat break down foam and uppers faster than dry-climate miles do, so expect to replace a little sooner than the box says. Training for the Crescent City Classic? Come in early in your build, not the week before.

      Come Get Fit

Walk in. No appointment. A few minutes. We measure both feet, take a footprint to find your arch length, and have you walk in the shoe before you buy. If your arch needs more than the shoe gives, ask about custom fitted arch supports.

Also worth a look: shoes for plantar fasciitis and wide and extra wide.

      FAQ

      What is footprint analysis?

We take an imprint of both feet to measure arch length and see how your foot loads. It takes a minute, it's free, and it changes which shoes we pull off the wall for you.

Do I need a running shoe if I mostly walk?

Often yes. Running shoes are built for repeated impact and usually cushion better than walking shoes. We'll tell you either way.

      Do you carry wide?

Yes. D and 2E in most brands, 4E in select styles.

How often should I replace them?

300–500 miles for most people. Bring your old pair in β€” the wear pattern tells us a lot.

      Can I return them?

Yes. Bring them back, or start one online at our Return Center. Return policy.
